Another great week for our Summer Shape Up participants! Summer schedules can get pretty hairy, but you are doing so well despite your circumstances. Though the "habits" may not feel new or fresh and exciting anymore, remember consistency is what matters! You may also be finding yourself hitting a plateau in your weight loss. Know this... that is totally NORMAL! Our bodies are incredibly efficient machines and they adapt very well to changes we make. If you're still doing the same workouts that worked for you a few weeks ago and not seeing results, it's time to MIX IT UP! Increase your intensity, try a different sport, sign up for a different class at the gym, try HIIT (interval training) workouts, combine cardio and strength training in the same workout, whatever you choose, do something DIFFERENT! Make your body work to adapt again.
Also, check out your nutrition. Are you looking for "loop holes" in your daily habits or are you looking for real change? Try food logging for a week or two to spot patterns in eating or holes in nutrition. Clean up your intake. Focus on eating REAL, quality, nutrient-dense food, Avoid processed box and/or freezer meals. Stick to the outside aisles of the grocery stores when shopping and as I've said many times... be sure you are eating adequate amounts of calories for your workout levels. Starving yourself will NOT produce the healthy results you are looking for and justifying over indulgences will only set you back. You can do this! You are amazing! You have the ability, do you have the commitment? I will step down from my soapbox now.

You are NOT alone in your journey and no matter how far you fall off the wagon it is NEVER too late to stand up and try again.
