Almond Joy Protein Shake

For the most part, I have given up regular milk (for drinking) and started using almond and coconut milk.  I've never really liked the taste of it, so it's not like this is a big sacrifice!  I have discovered that using coconut milk in a protein shake is beyond delicious.  It makes it thicker and creamier and gives it just a hint of coconut flavor.  I started using chocolate protein powder and was in heaven until my brilliant sister said, "you should throw some almonds in there and you've got an Almond Joy!"  I LOVE Almond Joys (and I miss them), so I thought, "What the heck?  Let's give it a try"...and OH.MY.GOSH...IT.IS.AMAZING!!!  It actually tastes like an Almond Joy, and feels like a "treat!"  And it is SUPER simple...here's the "recipe"...

8-12 ounces of coconut milk

1 scoop of chocolate protein powder

1 small handful of almonds (probably 10-15)

1 handful of spinach   **this is totally optional, but I can't taste it at all and it gives me an easy veggie  (I actually use frozen spinach cubes, which helps chill the shake as well).

Throw all of this in a blender and mix until well blended.  (There are still tiny chunks of almonds, which I really liked).  

I'm planning to put ice cubes in the next one to make it the consistency of an actual shake!
