"I have been thinking about this all week and trying to decide what success I have had. It has been hard for me to figure out what that means to me. Yeah, I have lost weight and feel better but I wouldn't say that was my success.
After thinking long and hard, I finally decided on something. I have learned that I can have self control. I can say no to food or anything else if I really want to.
The other night I went to dinner with my husband and friends, then to a church meeting that ended at 9. Afterwards, we went to dessert. It was right at nine and I felt like justifying that it was so close to nine that it would be okay to eat some, after all I still had a sweet available. By the time we got there it was after and I could no longer justify or feel good about doing that even if it was just nine. I had to make a choice, one of my goals was to win. Was it worth losing points and possibly not doing all I could to win for some ice cream? I decided it wasn't. I sat and watched them eat some very delicious ice cream with so much as taking a bite. My friends and husband were supportive of me and my choice. No one said, "Come on, just have some." It made feel feel good to know I had that much self control.
Now I just need to figure out how to translate that to normal non challenge life. I know I can and that if I do the weight won't come back this time. I am tired of the weight yo-yo. I can beat it and know that somewhere in me is the self control to do it."
