"I knew with the holidays I'd better get my 5k done at the beginning of the week so there was no worry in missing out. I woke up Monday morning determined to run come rain or shine. I wasn't expecting a 'monsoon,' however. Being the determined individual that I am, I refused to let go of my goal.
I knew the high school track would be the best place to go in town since every where else was being inundated with puddles. Before I could get half my warm up done my feet were soaked, but I continued onward. The wind was blowing hard and the rain was coming down in sheets but I was still determined to get this run done. I found I had THE BEST tail wind jogging down one of the straight sides of the track, and horrid head wind on the other. It was so bad my head had to be down and I was leaned over hopping and praying to see a turn in the track and happy when I did. I only made it a mile though before the rain was so bad that I was soaked to the skin. So much for completing it the first day.

As I awoke on Tuesday, I knew it was my day. It was still overcast, but no rain or wind, so I was a happy girl! As soon as the kids were off to school I was headed to the track again. This time the rain was kind enough to hold off until the second mile. I remember looking up at the sky and thinking, "Oh, I don't think so! I've come this far, I refuse to give up no matter what you throw at me!" I was relieved that it didn't last too long! Of course the biggest joy was completing the run and knowing I didn't let myself give up! I even improved my time over the last time I ran a 5k-- SO HAPPY!!!
